GDI Units

While you're looking at these units, keep in mind that these aren't the only units in the game. As Westwood builds and tests, other units will be added and tweaked. Also, there are several other units that player's won't own but can use during certain parts of the game. In all, each side (GDI and NOD) will have between 15 and 25 units.

INFANTRY

Light Battle Infantry
Lightly armored and can move over almost every terrain type. They carry pulse rifles that fire explosive charges that will do light damage to just about anything.

Disc Throwers
As a long range grenadier, these units play a major role in both offensive and defensive maneuvers. With bionic throwing arms they hurl explosive discs with very good accuracy.

Jump Jet Infantry
This is an armored infantry unit with the ability to jump short distances using a jetpack. Over walls, up cliffs, over water, almost any terrain. These guys really don't care. They have heavy armor and carry short-range rockets. A veteran jump jet troop will be able to engage aircraft.

Drop Pod Light Battle Infantry
Strategically dropped into hot zones these lightly armored infantry units are mobile over almost every terrain type. They carry pulse rifles that fire explosive charges that will do light damage to just about anything.

Engineer
The engineers are back to normal, the way they were in the original C&C, they take over buildings no matter what the health, they also repair bridges and other buildings when told to do so.

Medic
You know that this unit does... If not, you should read the RA manual and find out!

GROUND-BASED

Wolverine
The wolverine is the smallest in the series of 3 mechs GDI possesses. It is armed with dual Vulcan Cannons. The Wolverine is the fastest ground based unit the GDI possesses. It is built mainly for the purpose of mowing through infantry and scouting unrevealed terrain. Expect the price tag to be somewhere around $400

The Titan
This unit wears medium armor and is armed with a 120mm APDS cannon. Tall enough to shoot over walls... Very powerful and versatile unit. Expect a price tag of $800.

The Mammoth Mark II
The MMII is a 4-legged behemoth that uses dual RAIL GUNS! Very slow, about 5 stories tall, able to shoot at aerial units with missiles (not sure what type of missiles). It's basically a walking death machine. Expect a price tag of $2500.

Hover MRLS (Multi-Rocket Launching System)
This unit can cruise quickly over almost every terrain including water. Its weapon is a powerful rocket salvo that can do damage to just about anything including air units. The only drawback is its light armor and cost.

Disruptor (Tank)
The Disruptor is a high powered weapon that concentrates sonic power into a devastating beam of high energy. Capable of disrupting metal and flesh, the Disruptor is something you don't want to be close to while it's firing.

Amphibious APC
This armored personnel carrier is quick and mobile - capable of traversing arctic tundras and tiberium infested zones. The GDI APC is also equipped with an amphibous mode for crossing unfrozen waterways.

Mobile Sonar Vehicle
The Mobile Sonar Vehicle (MSV) is extremely effective in "sniffing" out subterranean activity and stealthed units. However, their range is somewhat limited, as is their armor protection. Also, they can't move while deployed. (This unit was called the Deployable Senor Array, but Westwood renamed it.)

Tiberium Clearer
This GDI unit is not a harvester so don't get it confused. What it does is it gets rid of the tiberium veins from the trees tiberium takes over, to prevent infantry health depriciation. This unit is most useful against NOD's Tiberium missile.

Mobile Construction Vehicle
The MCV is the MOST important unit in the game. It can be deployed into a construction yard, which in turn, lets you build structures and units. Keep your eye on this unit, even after when it's deployed, because this is the only thing that lets you build structures. No structure leads to no defense, no units, and at last NO victory! Get it? Perhaps the coolest feature in Tiberian Sun that should have been implemented in RA and TD was the ability to deploy back into a MCV. This will allow the player to expand their base without the high-costs of building another MCV. Expect a price tag of around $2500.

Harvester
The harvester is one of the most important units in Tiberian Sun. This is the unit which gathers a highly toxic mineral called Tiberium and brings it back to the refinery in order to transform it into spendable credits (money). The harvester is smarter than ever in Tiberian Sun. It automatically avoids enemy bases and units so it won't get hurt. Although it is heavily armored and smarter, keep the harvester under VERY CLOSE supervision. It's still very important.

AERIAL

ORCA Bomber
A bit slower than the ORCA Fighter, but more heavily armored and drops powerful bombs in a carpet bombing pattern. It carries 15 napalm bombs and drops them in 3 runs. Each run drops 5 bombs, the 3rd bomb in each run hits the target. The first and last 2 bombs just hit whatever is in the way.

ORCA Transport
The Orca Transport is used as an aerial APC to carry infantry into to battle or evacuate them to safety.

ORCA Fighter
Basically the ORCA from TD but it's faster and upgraded some.

ORCA Carryall
This workhorse is used to pickup ground based vehicles and bring them anywhere they need to go. Please note, the functionality of this unit can be vital to the success of any mission. Heavily damaged vehicles can be lifted back to a repair pad and then taken back into battle.

SPECIAL ABILITY UNITS
Hunter Seeker Droid
The Hunter Seeker Droid is acquired when you place an upgrade on the GDI Communications Center. An icon then appears on the sidebar and you have to give it time to charge so that you can use it. When the icon reads "ready" then you can click it and send the Droid to work. It then searches and finds the closest enemy unit on the map. It attaches to that unit and then explodes, causing an amazing amount of damage to that unit.

If you know of any changes or any new units please email gdiunits@cnc2.iwarp.com with "GDI Units" as the subject. Thanks
